Hringvangur is a public-private project established as part of the Nordic Networks for Circular Construction (NNCC) project, realised in Iceland by Húsnæðis- og mannvirkjastofnun and Green Building Council Iceland (Grænni byggð).

The need for such a network, enhancing the cooperation between the different stakeholders in the construction sector, was also identified at the beginning of this year within the Hringrás project at one of the workshops organised on the 19th of January and the first meeting on how to establish this network has been held with the Hringrás project managers.

Hringvangur is a network open for all parties interested in circular economy in construction. It is planned to be hosted by the Green Building Council Iceland (Grænni byggð) in 2024.

Hringvangur's goals

#1

Promote a circular economy in the construction sector

#2

Lobby authorities to enact laws that direct the Icelandic construction market in a circular direction.

#3

Educate and encourage stakeholders involved in the construction sector to implement circular practices in their work.

#4

Connect stakeholders in the construction sector to facilitate the implementation of circular operations in practice throughout the value chain.

To fulfill these goals, Hringvang's scope of work was divided into projects and subprojects:
